2017 Ford Escape Wins Compact SUV Challenge
The new 2017 Ford Escape recently beat the competition in the Cars.com annual Compact SUV Challenge thanks to its refinement, EcoBoost engine technology and abundance of tech features. The Escape was the clear choice for shoppers in the compact SUV segment, besting vehicles from Honda, Toyota, Kia and Hyundai.
Judges from Cars.com were impressed with the Escape’s sportier driving dynamics that don’t compromise ride quality. The Escape also had one of the quietest cabins in its class, giving it a driving experience you would expect on a much more expensive SUV.
One of the biggest areas where Ford is leading the way is in its infotainment systems, especially with the release of SYNC 3. It was praised for its clean design, ease of use and excellent smartphone integration. The Escape is one of the only vehicles in its class to feature both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
The optional 1.5-liter and 2.0-liter EcoBoost engines offer impressive horsepower and fuel economy ratings with up to 30 mpg on the highway. Both EcoBoost engines feature Auto Start-Stop technology to help save fuel when the engine would typically be idling, such as at a stop light.
An available Intelligent Four-Wheel Drive system continuously monitors traction and road conditions, and can transfer torque from the front to the rear wheels as needed. When equipped with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine and Class II Tow Package, the 2017 Ford Escape can pull up to 3,500 lbs. as well.
