Conquer Any Terrain with the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor
The all-new 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor has been redesigned from the ground up to be more capable than ever on any type of terrain. The powerful twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine and sophisticated four-wheel drive system work together to provide power and traction both on the road and off-road.
Drivers can easily select between six unique terrain modes in the F-150 Raptor, each designed for a specific set of conditions. For everyday driving, Normal mode provides a balance of comfort, power and fun. When the roads get twisty, Sport mode increases throttle response, shifts gears quicker and provides a sportier steering feel for spirited driving.
Weather mode is perfect for when road conditions are poor. When selected, Weather mode automatically engages four-wheel drive and the AdvanceTrac traction control, throttle response and shift points are optimized for better traction in slippery conditions.
When headed off-road onto the toughest trails, Mud/Sand mode gives you the confidence to navigate virtually any obstacle. The electronic locking differential is automatically engaged, 4 High is selected, AdvanceTrac is optimized for loose or soft ground and the steering is set to comfort for easy navigation, even on tight trails.
Baja mode is designed for high-speed desert running, where maintaining speed and traction is the most important. The Raptor is placed in 4 High, the AdvanceTrac is programmed to be less intrusive and the throttle map and shift points are changed to keep the vehicle in its power band longer.
The last mode is Rock Crawl, which is setup for off-road driving and rock climbing at low speeds. This mode engages 4 Low, the electronic locking differential is automatically engaged, the traction control and transmission are optimized for better control and the front camera is turned on to allow for better visibility at speeds up to 15 mph.
