Ford Adds Cold Weather Features to 2017 Escape SUV
As much of North America heads into winter with snow already on the ground and temperatures below freezing, Ford is committed to making sure its vehicles are ready for harsh winter conditions. After the big chill of 2013-2014, Ford deployed a team to Alberta, Canada to find out what features drivers in colder climates needed the most.
“What our customers in Canada told us is simple – ‘Heat everything!’” said Nicole Mazur or Ford Canada. “They wanted better access to some of the cold weather features Ford was already offering on its higher-series vehicles.”
With the help of teams from other cold climate locations in Russia and Scandinavia, Ford figured out which features were most important to drivers of every region in an effort to make its technology available to more drivers. Customer clinics showed that many drivers would prefer a heated steering wheel, heated mirrors and a windshield wiper de-icer as standard equipment.
The 2017 Ford Escape is one of the first mainstream Ford vehicles to have a variety of cold climate-ready features available. The windshield wiper de-icer can remove light snow and ice from wiper blades in under 10 minutes at -18 degrees Fahrenheit, the all-weather floor mats catch and hold snow, slush and mud to protect the vehicle’s carpet, heated side mirrors improve visibility and a heated steering wheel and heated front seats keep you comfortable in the coldest temperatures.
Ford vehicles equipped with SYNC Connect and FordPass allow drivers to remotely start their car from their smartphone to warm up their vehicle before getting in. If any of these cold weather features are what you need this winter, visit us today at 5 Star Ford in North Richland Hills, TX.
