Tuesday Tech Tips – Will Bluetooth Run My Battery Down?
By: Jimmie Mathews – SYNC Expert
Every so often, I get a phone call from someone who intentionally or unintentionally turned their Bluetooth off. “My phone just isn’t working in my car. My phone works just fine, just isn’t coming through the stereo,” “It was SYNCED up by my salesperson, but nothing happens,” or something similar. As soon as the phone is in my hand, I can see the cause of the problem is that the Bluetooth is off.
This is a simple fix: make sure that Bluetooth is switched “ON” on the phone. You can leave your Bluetooth turned on all the time when you’re not in your vehicle. It won’t drain your phone battery.
CHARGING YOUR PHONE
Don’t forget, there are a couple of ways to charge your devices in your vehicle! If you need power quick because your phone is nearly out of power, use the 12v plug for your car charger. It will get you the fastest charge. However, if your charge on your battery is okay, you can be plugged in through the USB port in the console. The USB port puts out 1.5 milliamps of power – not much power! However, if you are in the car for more than a few minutes, it will get you a charge on your device. On your regular drive, it will do just fine, and provide more in-vehicle entertainment options.
