What You Need to Know About Flat Towing

Many people, especially motorhome owners, prefer the practicality of taking another vehicle along with them when they travel.  It’s much easier to drive a normal vehicle around town or for short trips where you don’t want to have to maneuver your motorhome.Towing another vehicle behind a motorhome has several different terms including four-wheel-towing, flat-towing, neutral-towing, or recreational-towing.  Each of these terms means that you are towing the vehicle with all four wheels on the ground.  Flat-towing has become more and more popular in recent years especially since it can be easily done without a dolly or trailer.

Ford offers several vehicles that are capable of being flat-towed and you can see them in the chart below.

If your vehicle configuration is not listed in the chart above, then it’s not available for four-wheel-towing.  Please remember that for safe operation, all towed vehicles should be equipped with a separate functional brake system.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at (817) 498-8838.
