2016 Ford Vehicles with SYNC 3 Get Big Software Update
Ford customers can now download the latest update to SYNC 3 for their 2016 vehicles, which brings Android Auto and Apple CarPlay software support along with other improvements. The version 2.2 update can be downloaded to a USB drive, updated automatically over a Wi-Fi connection or be installed by visiting us at Five Star Ford of North Richland Hills.
“Our SYNC 3 software platform was designed to be easy to update so we can get our customers the latest and greatest features, functionality and security enhancements,” said Don Butler, executive director of Ford Connected Vehicle and Services.
Customers can visit https://www.ford.com/support to download the update for their 2016 vehicle, or connect their vehicle to their home’s Wi-Fi network where the update will be installed automatically.
Android Auto works with Android devices with Android 5.0 or higher, and gives easy access to Google Maps, Google Play Music, phone calls, messaging and supported third-party apps on the vehicle’s built-in touchscreen. It also provides quick access to Google voice search and voice controls to minimize distraction when driving.
Apple CarPlay is compatible with iPhone 5 and later with at least iOS 7.1, and gives users a simple way to make phone calls, send and receive messages, use navigation, listen to music and access Siri voice controls. Some vehicles may require a USB hub upgrade available through Ford dealers for Apple CarPlay support.
