Ford Earns Its Best Score Ever in J.D. Power Initial Quality Study
In the annual J.D. Power Initial Quality Study, Ford Motor Company ranked No. 2 across all automakers for the second straight year and earned its best overall score in the report’s 32-year history. Five Ford and Lincoln vehicles also earned segment awards for quality, more than any other automaker.
Ford has been steadily improving the quality of its audio, connectivity, entertainment and navigation technology with SYNC 3, which has earned praise for its ease of use. SYNC 3 is now available on nearly Ford and Lincoln vehicle, and continues to be improved with new updates and added features.
“Customers want a vehicle that keeps them connected whether they’re going places or just out enjoying a drive,” said Jim VanSlambrouck, Ford’s Director of Quality for The Americas. “Our improving quality scores show we are delivering smart vehicles for a smart world that are also easy to use.”
Other areas Ford has improved in the last several year include exterior quality, seating, driving experience, feature control displays, interior and air conditioning. Nine vehicles made it into the top three for their segments, and these five models received top honors: Ford Expedition, Ford Mustang, Ford Super Duty, Lincoln Continental and Lincoln MKC.
Ford has reduced the number of problems per 100 vehicles from last year at a rate faster than the industry average, and the Lincoln brand now is in third place among all premium vehicle brands.
