Tuesday Tech Tips – Sirius Satellite Radio

Sirius is a digital satellite broadcast with over 140 channels including commercial-free music from many genres. It also features exclusive entertainment, comedy, talk, world-class news, sports, local traffic, weather and more!  If your new Ford is equipped with Sirius it comes with 6 months of complimentary service!

In the Center Stack, underneath the radio display, you will find the menu buttons to control your radio.  These controls will vary in placement dependent upon the vehicle, but they all function in the essentially same way. The top left button toggles between AM/FM radio stations.

Directly below this button is the SIRIUS button.  If you press this button repeatedly, it will cycle through pre-sets SIRIUS 1, 2, and 3.  You can have up to 30 pre-sets for SIRIUS.  Many systems have a button on the steering wheel that is labeled M or Media.  This button can also be used to cycle through RADIO/SIRIUS pre-sets, as well as other media options.

In the center you can see the number pad.  This is where you assign your presets.  Essentially, you can have up to 30 SIRIUS RADIO pre-set stations (some systems will only allow up to 18). To set a station, simply tune to the desired station then press a number key, holding it until the system beeps.  Once you have preset stations, you can use the << and>> buttons to scan to your saved stations.

You can also see an option called ‘Direct Tune’ or ‘Direct’.  If you press this button you can use the number keypad to key in the station number and go directly to it without having to manually tune.
